Below are just a few samples of Granite and other stone colors, along with synthetic quartz, which come in slab form. The pictures are intended to provide you with some general ideas of color and texture. Of course, colors will always vary from one slab to the next, and each computer monitor will display these differently.
Of the natural stone, Granite is the hardest, most consistent and most appropriate for use as a kitchen countertop. Granite is strong and has low porosity characteristics. On average, Granite should be resealed (it takes 20-30 minutes) to assist in limiting absorption of contaminants and substances that stain.
Marble has been used in bathrooms throughout history. Slate and soapstone are used in many applications. Travertine, in slab form, is most appropriately used in bathroom applications. Engineered Quartz is harder, stronger and most consistent in physical characteristics. It is also non-porous and needs no sealing. It does not have the very ‘natural’ appearance of Granite, but it is appropriate for all the applications that Granite is.
